We are unfortunate to hear of the passing of Old Rossallian and former Rossallian Club President Roger Walker (M, 1957-61) who sadly passed away on Friday, 12th July 2024. Roger was a proud Old Rossallian and was instrumental in shaping the Rossallian Club as we know it today.

Dear family and friends of Roger Walker,

Many thanks for your condolences, messages and support, following Roger’s passing on Friday 12th July.

We can now share with you the plans for his funeral/thanksgiving service, which will take place on Tuesday 6th August at 12.15pm at St. Mary’s Church in Nether Alderley.

The immediate family are attending a service at the crematorium prior to the church service, but we would like to welcome you all to the service at St. Mary’s and to a gathering with lunchtime refreshments, at Siddington Village Hall afterwards.

St Mary’s Church is situated off Congleton Road in Nether Alderley (Church Lane, Nether Alderley, SK10 4TW). This was the church where Chris and Roger were married. If you need clearer directions, please let us know. At the moment, due to Parish Hall renovations, there are only temporary portaloo toilet facilities at the church.

Parking at St. Mary’s might be a bit limited, so car sharing where possible would be a good idea.

Roger was very involved with Nether Alderley Parish Hall, which is adjacent to the church. Unfortunately, we can’t gather there after the funeral as the Hall is being renovated, so we’ve chosen another local country village hall, to come together to remember and celebrate Roger’s life, after the funeral. Siddington Village Hall is just another 5 minutes down Congleton Road (around 3 miles), on the left hand side as you travel from Nether Alderley towards Congleton. (SK11 9LF)

It would help us very much, if you could let us know if you can join us for the lunchtime refreshments, just so we have an idea of who might be available, for catering purposes. Everyone is very welcome. Chris, Penny and Bruce and their families would be very pleased for your company.

We’ve been so appreciative of people passing on our sad news to Roger’s friends and members of the groups and organisations that he was part of. We’d be grateful if you could pass on the details of the funeral to those you think might like to know about it and attend. Please pass on our contact details, so people can send a quick message to let us know if they’re hoping to join us. If you could let us know who you’ve contacted, that would help us greatly too.

Chris would like, if possible, for those attending the funeral to wear clothes/ties in colours other than black.
