The Jackson Scholarship and Bursary Trust Fund and The Rossall Centenary Trust Fund - Trustees

Dear Old Rossallians,

The Jackson Scholarship and Bursary Trust Fund and The Rossall Centenary Trust Fund are looking to add two more trustees to their number to help oversee the running of these two trust funds. The requirement of the Centenary Trust is that you need to have been educated at Rossall School or been a Master.

We have two meetings a year, an AGM in November, where we also meet the scholars and are now adding a shorter meeting in April. Ideally attendance at the November meeting is prefered in person but can be done on Zoom occasionally, while the April meeting can be attended by Zoom.

The purpose of the Jackson Trust Fund is to provide a scholarship to students who do not have to be purely academic but are a good all-rounder and also to students drawn from a wide social background who's parents/guardians might not be able to afford to send them to Rossall without the help of this scholarship. The scholarship does have a means testing element to it as well.

The purpose of The Rossall Centenary Trust Fund is to provide available income from its investments to Rossall Council to be applied by them to the needs of the School as Council sees fit.

These two trusts are Charitable Trust Funds and the role of a trustee is to oversee the running of the Trust as set out in its governing document which includes making sure the trust's investments are managed appropriately by the investment company, complying with statutory accounting and how/who scholarships are awarded to, amongst other duties.

If you feel you could give some time to help with the management of these two trust funds and would like to be involved in helping to make a difference to some students' lives by giving them an opportunity to be a part of all that is Rossall, then we would love to hear from you, or if you would like some more information about this role, again please get in touch. If you have been a previous recipient of a Jackson Scholarship/Bursary maybe you now might like to be involved from the other side of the fund.

If you are interested in the role or have any enquiries, please send them to Sarah.Wheildon@gmail.com
