OR Harvey James Stansfield Debut CD
FANFARE
Organ music of Percy Whitlock (1903-1946)
I'm very proud to release my debut CD as part of my final degree studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
This recording celebrates the compositional style of Percy Whitlock's organ music and the 120th Anniversary year of his birth. The images featured on the front cover represent the significant places where he was associated and where one could say he truly thrived. This collection of works is performed on the authentic dual console organ of Southampton Guildhall built by John Compton. This instrument captures the sound world needed for the repertoire on this CD. Whitlock knew this venue and organ very well having played alongside George Thalben-Ball (Organ Consultant) for the opening recital in 1937 and on another occasion playing his own 'Fidelis' and 'Fanfare'. I open the CD with his 'Fanfare' (from Four Extemporizations) bringing it back to where the composer played it himself. Thank you so much to each one of you who contributed to ensure this project could happen. I was overwhelmed by the generosity and messages of support which were gratefully received.
FANFARE is now available to purchase via my website on the link below.
