Michael Munby (J & SE 1947-54) who died aged 86 on the 5th of October, was one of the first Fleetwood boys to enter Rossall from the State Junior School system at the age of eleven.  James House had just been established specifically to provide two years of Senior School initiation.

On leaving Spread Eagle (McNair’s) Michael served two years of National Service in the Royal Artillery. Thereafter his career at Nottingham's John Player Ltd took him to many countries worldwide as the Company’s International Consultant on tobacco leaf quality and contract  negotiation.

Michael was an enthusiastic and talented golfer, starting as junior member of Fleetwood Golf Club along with his future wife Jean. In Nottingham both were members of Beeston Fields Golf Club where he became Captain. In addition to being involved in English Golf, he was a Nottinghamshire County Player, the President of Nottingham Golf Union and took part in County Golf administration.
