Founded in 1924, the Halford Hewitt Cup is the largest amateur golf competition in the world, bringing together Old Boys from 64 leading public schools. This year, Rossall claimed victory for the first time in 53 years.

An outstanding team performance saw Rossall overcome Gresham’s, King’s Canterbury, Cheltenham, Stowe and Loretto to reach the final, where they faced Winchester. In a competitive match played in great spirit, Rossall secured a 4–1 win to lift the trophy.

Congratulations to Matt Allen, Christian Butler, Josh Fallows, Josh Hamnett, Kieran Hogarth, Greg Holmes, Simon Holt, Jimmy Jones, James O’Toole, Louis Talarczyk and David Tonroe on an incredible achievement.

Noel Muscutt (MC, 1973-1978) said "After 53 long years since Rossall’s last Halford Hewitt victory, we’ve finally done it again! Couldn’t be prouder of the Team, 7 of whom have benefitted from the School Golf Academy, and 6 of those 7 are still under 25! The Rossall Halford Hewitt future has never been brighter under the new guard!"

Stuart Hemmings, Golf Director said "Throughout my decade at Rossall, this stands among the most distinguished achievements and is a moment I will long treasure. To see a number of former students I worked with now representing the Old Rossallian community is particularly meaningful. While their excellence in golf is evident, it is the people they have become that I find most humbling.”
