Rossall School is celebrating another excellent set of Sixth Form results, with students achieving impressive outcomes across IB, A-Level and BTEC qualifications, and securing places at world-leading universities and conservatoires.  Almost two-thirds of grades awarded at A-level were A*-B.  

Our commitment to offering distinctive academic routes that enable students to thrive, whether through A-levels, BTEC qualifications or the International Baccalaureate (IB), continues to ensure that our results are significantly above national averages.

There was particular success across Mathematics and Economics, with almost 50% of all Mathematics and Further Mathematics grades being awarded A* or A. Art and Design subjects continue to deliver exceptional results.  In Art, 100% of grades were awarded at A*, while Design & Technology achieved 100% A/A* and Graphic Communication achieved 100% A*-B.

These A-Level results follow a highly successful summer as Rossall, a non-academically selective school, has continued to outperform the global average of 30 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma.  Almost 60% of IB Higher Level grades were awarded at A*/A or equivalent, and 25% of the 2026 cohort achieved 40 points or more - equivalent to four A* grades at A-level - a feat achieved by only 10% of all candidates across the world.

Rossall’s BTEC Sport students also performed exceptionally well, with 94% of grades awarded at Distinction or Distinction*.

Our 2026 leavers now progress onto courses at leading universities in the UK and across the globe. The School is especially proud of the breadth of achievement across the cohort, with many students securing top grades while also contributing fully to the wider life of Rossall.

Erin achieved an extraordinary set of results with  A*A*A*A in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics. These results include full marks on both Pure Mathematics papers! Erin has been an exceptional Sixth Form student embracing the role of Deputy School Captain, alongside representing the school, Leeds Rhinos and the Scottish National Team on the Netball Court.  She will now move on to St Andrews University to study Mathematics and Physics. 

She said: “I’m going to the University of St Andrews to study Mathematics and Physics. The thing I’ve loved most about Rossall is the teaching support we receive, which has been incredible.”

Loïc achieved a triple distinction in BTEC Sport and was part of Rossall’s Elite Football Programme. During his final year, Loïc was proudly called up for International Representation.

He said: “I joined the school in 2024 in September and came from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. As soon as I came here it felt like family. I came here to play football and do BTEC sport, which is my passion. I am taking a gap year and going to Exeter University next year.”

Andrew, another member of our elite football academy, achieved the best possible grades, a triple distinction star, and will now take a gap year, and it was wonderful to see Mia and Oliver each achieve a double distinction star distinction. Mia aims to join the army, whilst Oliver is heading to London to study Physiotherapy. 

Poppy-May, our Girls’ Football Captain, also achieved double distinction star distinction alongside a Psychology A-level, reflecting the strength and flexibility of Rossall’s Sixth Form pathways.

This diversity is exemplified by the range of nations and institutions our leavers move onto: for example, Louisa and Antonia will take up places on elite medicine courses; Richard and Yuchu head to the Royal Northern College of Music, and Guildhall, respectively; and Emily will take up a prestigious place at Italia Conti, for Performing Arts. Franz has signed a professional football contract in Austria, and we have Josh, Oscar, Gil and Tim who are heading to America on Sports Scholarships. Pia will take up a place at the Karolinski Institute (one of the top universities in the world) and Jonas heads to WHU - Otto Beisheim School, the number one Business School in Germany. 

These stories reflect the transformative impact of a Rossall education and the school’s commitment to offering distinctive academic routes that enable students to thrive, whether through A-levels, BTEC qualifications or the International Baccalaureate. 

They also underline the school’s continued strength in combining academic ambition with individual support, personal development, and rich opportunities in music, sport, dance, drama, service and leadership.  Students leave Rossall not only with outstanding academic results but also with the character to thrive in higher education and the world beyond.
