Big School Roof

We launched our Heritage project in October 2023 and thanks to our generous donors, a year later we have been able to complete the first stage of this essential project. The first stage was to safeguard Big School roof. This much needed project looks to preserve the historic heart of Rossall but also ensure that the building continues to serve students for generations to come.

After many years of weathering the elements, the roof of Big School has received a well-deserved upgrade. The structure, which has seen countless assemblies, performances, and academic milestones, has had its fair share of wear and tear. With some areas showing signs of damage, we needed to invest in a long-term solution. Work took place between July 2024 and October 2024 and each tile has been assessed and replaced or relaid to ensure the building is now watertight and will withstand the test of time. None of this work would have been possible without the enormous generosity of those who have donated to the Foundation's Future Heritage Project. Big School reopened on October 5th where we welcomed record breaking numbers of attendees at our October Open day!
